Gosh! I didn't know that.... Thanks
Pretty Please...
Have a great day!

I came home from work today and was surprised at the sight of our formal living room.
There was nothing formal about it anymore, I can tell you that.
As I've written before, we wanted to replace the carpet with hardwood floors. We got a reasonable price quote from someone recommended by Ted so they delivered the wood planks today. Kenny worked hard last night stripping the carpet off the floor
. He also moved all the furniture from that room and put most of them in the garage.
Whew!!! I spent a few hours moving the accessories and various knick-knacks to the guest room. I didn't realize we got so much "stuff".
I joked about having a garage sale to get rid of some of it. Nahhh! We've been pretty good about keeping things minimal in the house. We love what we have so far and not thinking of replacing anything, except of course, the floors.
We were instructed to clear the rest of the first floor of the carpeting and linoleum (hate it!).
The contents of the family room still needs to go somewhere. The kitchen appliances also need to be pulled out as well as the toilet and vanity sink from the powder room. All these had to be done by Thursday as the installation will probably start on Friday. We will have to stay someplace for a few days as we can't be in the house when they start sanding and staining. So much to do in such a short time but we don't mind it so much as we are keeping our sights on the prize: nice hardwood floors.
Kenny took a break from his demolition tasks to get some much needed tools (crow bars and such) from Home Depot. Then, we went to P.F. Chang's for dinner but was told there's an hour and a half wait
. We decided to place a reservation anyway and spent the time shopping for some bedroom furniture. We managed to visit three stores and finally found what we both want
at the Marshall Field's furniture store in Oakbrook. Hopefully, they will be accurate and deliver the item in three weeks' time. We've had troubles with other stores before so we're just keeping our fingers crossed. Otherwise, my good-natured husband will raise bloody hell
.
Our stomachs had bottomed out by the time we got back to the resto. We placed our order pronto. I had the Alaskan Sockeye salmon steamed with ginger and Kenny played it safe with his usual Philip's Better Lemon Chicken. I just couldn't pass up on dessert and had Banana Spring Rolls (Turon).
After the late meal and feeling much replenished, Kenny and I finished clearing out the family room and he resumed the demolition armed with the proper tools
.
He worked almost non-stop late into the night until the areas looked almost like how it was when the house was in its construction phase. Despite the resulting mess and rubble, we can definitely picture how much better it will look by next week. I can't wait

. It will really cost us a good amount of money but we're thinking of it as an investment as well. It's supposed to add more to the resale value in the long run. We're really excited about it.
